The Milk Industry.
Like most industries, the last 20/30 years have seen big changes.
Daisy the 16-year-old Shorthorn Cow grazing the meadow is now a rarity. She has been superseded animally by the larger Fresian and now by the even larger Holstein which are rarely seen as their lives are considerably shorter and often spend most of it in sheds. The constant drive for cheaper products sees a vast milk yield from the Holstein leading to a diminishing number of smaller Dairy Farmers in favour of much larger farms following the trends of American systems:
